Welcome to Offtopic - The sequel!
Last Friday we finally brought the 944 to the inspection garage. And I will now explain what they did there and what my results were.
When we came in, I had to give my car documents to the inspector. He would use them to see the car's VIN(vehicle identification number) and see if my tires are the same size on paper as in real life (they aren't but he didn't see that).
So then he took the car into the shop and onto a plate with rolls in it. These were to test the brake power and suspension. Brakes and suspension are perfectly fine. So now he drives it a meter forward, so the car now stands on an integrated lift. He lifted it up and checked the bottom side of the car. No problems, at least it looked like that. He tested if the wheel bearings had no play, and oh boy, they had a lot of play (very bad). And then he also realised, that a brake line was rusted. That's something that lets a car fail inspection 100%.. Anyway he then tested exhaust values. And they didn't match with his papers at all. My car has no CAT (catalytic converter) (Sorry Greta) and he only had the values for cars with a CAT, so he just said they're fine.
Funny thing is that he didn't see or at least didn't mind the very big problems:
-The driver seat is completely out of position and two screws were broken and badly fixed by me
-The ignition lock doesn't go back to position 1 after starting (0 = off, 1 = ignition, 2 = start)
-The tires are wider than on the paper
-There is a lot of oil flowing down the engine, and I mean a LOT
-Steering is misaligned a lot
Long story short: I will need to repair all that in the next 2.5 weeks, which will cost more than I have and then I need to go back there and pay again for the inspection.
See you then in Offtopic!
